Heat the lard in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté the finely chopped onion until golden brown, about 5-8 minutes. Add the cumin and pork and fry for 10 minutes until golden brown. Add the garlic, season well and sprinkle over the flour. Cook for about a minute, then add the paprika and cook for 1 more minute.

Pour in half the broth, add the bay leaves and simmer covered for 30 minutes.

Add the sauerkraut, the remaining broth, and a splash of the sauerkraut pickle juice. Simmer covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until meat is tender. Add the cream and simmer for 5 minutes to combine the flavors. Season to taste and serve garnished with a dollop of sour cream.
